Shortly after 5 PM this afternoon, RFC was dispatched to assist Bryn Mawr Fire Company on a house fire on Heather Lane in the Bryn Mawr section of Radnor Township. Radnor Police arrived and reported fire and smoke showing. Broomall Fire Company had just cleared a call in their area and were added to the incident. Crews arrived to a 2 1/2 story single family dwelling with fire showing on the rear deck and extension into the first and second floors of the home. Chief 15 assumed Heather Lane Command and requested the working fire dispatch. Crews from RFC and Bryn Mawr stretched two 1 3/4" lines into the interior of the home. Broomall arrived and took the hydrant in front of the house. A third line was taken to the rear of the residence to attack the exterior fire. Gladwyne Fire Company arrived and were requested to lay out to the next hydrant for additional water. Due to the extreme temperatures, a second alarm was requested, bringing additional manpower to the scene to relieve the first in crews. Crews knocked down all visible fire and then began extensive overhaul. The fire was placed under control at 5:45 PM. The last fire units cleared the scene right before 7 PM.
