Three members of the Engine replacement committee flew to the Pierce plant in Appleton, Wisconsin to meet with reps and firm up the specs on the new engine prior to the start of manufacture. Each line item was checked and re-checked, the drawings were inspected for correctness and the team had the opportunity to meet with various Pierce engineers when there were questions in their particular fields. The committee members also walked through the delivery floors of the plant to see finished engines and check out the different options that numerous fire departments were using. At this time, the final inspection for the engine will be in March, back out in Appleton. The committee members flew out on Sunday, June 28th and returned to Wayne on Tuesday, June 30th.
