The RFC Spec Committee worked for months on the specs for the new Quint. Bids went out to several apparatus manufacturers with two returned who said they were able to build what we needed.
Several months ago, RFC awarded the contract for the Quint replacement to Pierce Fire Apparatus.
Three members of the Quint Specifications Committee flew to Appleton, Wisconsin on February 1st to have a pre-con meeting with Pierce representatives.
Members spent two days going over the specs line by line with the reps to make sure they meet RFC needs, the Engineering Department to incorporate design changes and the Graphics Design Department to specify the look of the Quint.
The committee members also were able to view recently built apparatus on Pierce's "Blue Floor" which were awaiting shipping to various fire departments throughout the U.S. This allowed the members a chance to see different options chosen by the respective departments.
Factory reps announced that the final inspection for the Quint should take place in October of this year.
