| At a little after 4:30 this afternoon, RFC was alerted to a possible active shooter incident at Villanova University. Delaware County dispatched an EMS disaster box, bringing numerous MICUs from Delaware, Chester and Montgomery Counties to the scene.
RFC fire was dispatched to assist.
All responding EMS units were directed to stand by in the driveway to the steam plant on North Ithan Avenue. Battalion 15 took on the role of the staging officer for the EMS units. Deputy 15 responded to the police command post to assist.
One MICU was brought into the scene when a report of a victim was received. After a short time, it was determined that the report was false.
While SWAT teams cleared the building, EMS and RFC fire units stood by on North Ithan Avenue.
RFC also had crews on station to handle any other fire or EMS emergencies.
It was eventually determined that the call reporting the shooting incident was a hoax.
As the various police agencies cleared the scene, assisting EMS agencies staged at RFC were released. The last RFC fire and EMS units cleared the scene just prior to 7:30 PM. |
