On Friday afternoon, at a little after 3 PM, RFC was clearing a crash on the Blue Route when the dispatch came in for an underground fire in front of 201 West Lancaster Avenue. Once units arrived on location, a local electrician approached the crew and reported that smoke was coming from a manhole in front of 118 East Lancaster. Crews re-directed to the new location and confirmed the report. PECO was notified to respond. RFC crews taped off the area and checked the basements of the businesses near the fire for smoke and/or carbon monoxide levels, all of which was negative. Once PECO arrived, the incident was turned over to them and RFC cleared
