March 13, 2020

The Officers and leadership of the Radnor Fire Company are actively monitoring the situation around Delaware, Chester and Montgomery Counties and would like to make you aware of a few items.

-As of 3:30 p.m. (3/13/20), there are 27 presumptive positive cases and 6 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Pennsylvania. Locally, there are 4 cases in Delaware County, 1 case in Chester County and 17 cases in Montgomery County. A presumptive positive test is for the time between an initial positive test for the virus by a public health lab but before the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed the results. A presumptive positive result from a CDC test is treated as if the patient is positive for the virus, according to the CDC.

-Radnor Fire Company is fully operational. Our volunteers and career staff are responding to any and every call we are dispatched to. Currently, RFC is following State and local guidelines. Our station located at 121 S. Wayne Ave. is now on lock-down until further notice. This does not mean anything other than visitors are prohibited from entering the station, which unfortunately includes cancelling ‘Breakfast with the Easter Bunny’ scheduled for March 29th. All child car seat inspections are also unavailable until further notice.

-The Radnor Township Board of Commissioners have declared a “COVID-19 Emergency Disaster”, which can be viewed here:
https://www.radnor.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=2160

-In the event there is a Fire or EMS emergency in your home, and you call 911, please notify the 911 call taker and dispatcher if you or anyone is sick or has recently been sick or traveled (especially out of the country). Illnesses to notify 911 of include fevers, coughs and/or trouble breathing/shortness of breath. If RFC personnel are dispatched to your home for any emergency, you will most likely see them wearing facemasks and other forms of personal protective equipment. If you did not notify 911 of any pre-existing illness, please let our first responders know immediately.

Due to the nature of this illness, there may be other measures Radnor Fire Company personnel may take to protect ourselves. It is important that we stay healthy so we can serve and protect our community!

Please monitor reputable sources frequently for updates on COVID-19. The latest up-to-date info for Pennsylvania can be found here:
