(WAYNE, PA) – The Radnor Fire Company of Wayne (RFC), today announced the launch of a new recruiting website and direct mail campaign focused on helping boost the fire company’s volunteer ranks, while also strongly communicating the many personal benefits and challenges offered by volunteering locally as a firefighter or ambulance member.

The new website www.JoinRadnorFireEms.com, can be accessed either as a stand-alone microsite or by clicking on the “Volunteer” section of the fire company’s website www.RadnorFire.com. To help drive traffic and interest in the website and in joining the fire company, Radnor Fire Company is also direct-mailing a new tri-fold recruiting brochure to more than 5,000 heads of households in Radnor Township and the portions of Tredyffrin Township covered by the fire company.

“A report released last year by the State of Pennsylvania revealed that that the number of volunteer firefighters in Pennsylvania was at a crisis point. The 95-page legislative study said there were about 300,000 volunteer firefighters in the state in the ‘70s, a number that’s fallen to about 38,000 currently,” said Radnor Fire Company President, James J. Kelly. “And it’s not just in rural areas throughout the state. Right here, up and down the Main Line, fire companies continue to be severely challenged in meeting the needs of the community as our volunteer ranks dwindle and our call rates increase.”

According to Kelly, RFC’s board of directors and recruiting committee decided earlier this year to meet the recruiting challenge head-on and do a better job of communicating the many personal benefits one can experience by joining Radnor Fire Company on either the fire or ambulance side. Themed “Step Up. Stand Out. Save Lives.” the new website and brochure focus directly on the types of volunteer opportunities available, why one should volunteer, and multiple, short biographies of the personal experiences and rewards current RFC volunteers have experienced as a member of the fire company.

“One of the biggest changes we’ve made with this new microsite is doing away with the lengthy on-line application process as a starting point with new recruits,” said Damien Enderle, RFC Recruiting Committee Chair. “A simple contact form is all we’re asking interested recruits to complete, initially. We will get to a full-on application once we meet and greet.”

According to Enderle, Jenkintown, Pa.-based The Communications Solutions Group, helped develop the new recruiting assets for Radnor Fire Company. The full-service marketing and public relations firm has extensive experience in helping dozens of fire companies, school districts and non-profits with recruiting and fundraising campaigns.
