The Radnor Fire Company was dispatched at 12:50 a.m. to the 600 block of Darby Paoli Rd. in Radnor Township for a building fire. Firefighters from Newtown Square, Broomall, and Berwyn were also called to respond.

Firefighters arrived on location to find a large detached garage and two automobiles on fire. The main house and guest home on the property were also in threat of catching fire due to the intense radiant heat.

Deputy Chief Joe Maguire requested the 2nd alarm and water tankers to assist due to the proximity of the fire to the closet fire hydrant. This area of the Township has many homes that are located several thousand feet from fire hydrants, which makes water supply a challenge for firefighters.

The fire was brought under control within an hour after over 75 firefighters responded to the scene.

The Radnor Township Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. The garage was destroyed, while radiant heat from the fire caused minor damage to the main home and guest house on the property.

There was no reported firefighter or civilian injuries. All Radnor Fire Company and mutual aid companies were clear of the scene by 5 a.m.
