Originally called Decoration Day, from the early tradition of decorating graves with flowers, wreaths and flags, Memorial Day is a day for remembrance of those who have died in service to our country. It was first widely observed on May 30, 1868 to commemorate the sacrifices of Civil War soldiers, by proclamation of Gen. John A. Logan of the Grand Army of the Republic, an organization of former Union sailors and soldiers.

The Radnor Fire Company would like to recognize all those service men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the United States of America. Without their will to fight and the support of their loved ones, we would not enjoy the freedoms that exist in our democratic society.

The Radnor Township Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for Monday, May 30th beginning at 9:30 a.m. You can learn more about this event by visiting the Radnor Township Memorial Day website at http://www.radnormemorialday.org/.
