The Radnor Fire Company and Bryn Mawr Fire Company were dispatched to the area of Sproul Road and Sunny Hill Road for a motor vehicle collision with reported entrapment at 4:54 p.m.

Radnor Ambulance 15-7A arrived on location and reported the driver heavily entrapped after a large tree had fallen on the car. After the car struck the tree, it kept traveling on the roadway and struck another vehicle head on.

Firefighters from Radnor and Bryn Mawr worked in tandem to quickly extricate the driver by removing the roof of the car. During the rescue downed power lines and a nearby telephone pole caught fire and presented a dangerous rescue scene. PECO was called to the scene to de-energize the power lines and to restore power to the area.

The driver was transported to Paoli Hospital by Radnor EMS, but later succumbed to his injuries. The Radnor Fire Company sends it condolences to the family and friends affected by this tragic event.
