| RFC was dispatched to a high pressure gas line struck by a contractor on Spring Hollow Road shortly after 8 AM today. As crews were responding, Chester County advised that the County Haz-Mat team was also being dispatched. RFC crews arrived and found that the main was located in the cul-de-sac on Spring Hollow. Firefighters made contact at four homes near the leak and advised the residents of the situation. One of the homes was found to have low levels of natural gas inside and the residents were evacuated. Once the Haz-Mat team arrived, they assisted the RFC crew with monitoring the area with gas meters. PECO arrived and excavated an area to allow them to shut down the flow of gas. Once the gas was shut off, RFC used PPV to ventilate the house that was evacuated. RFC crews were on location about ninety minutes before returning to station. |
