A little after 10 PM, after returning from an automatic alarm, RFC was dispatched to Hilldale Road in Villanova for a report of wires down.
Crews responded and had to dodge tree limbs down on the roadway to access the area.
Once on Hilldale, numerous trees and wires were down in the roadway and a least two telephone poles were broken and leaning.
Crews walked the roadway, assessing the damage and speaking with homeowners, advising them to remain indoors.
PECO was requested to respond.
While waiting for PECO, a primary line dropped down on North Spring Mill near Hilldale, prompting fire crews to tape off the area and have RTPD place barricades to block the roadway.
Crews remained on scene until 1 AM until PECO made sure the area was safe.
