At 4:21 AM, RFC was dispatched for an automatic fire alarm in the 700 block of Knox Road in Villanova. Within a couple of minutes, the resident called 911 to report a fire in the living room. The call was upgraded to a building fire which included mutual aid from Broomall and Bryn Mawr Fire Companies. RTPD arrived on location and reported a working fire. Chief 15 arrived with heavy smoke showing from the residence. Quint 15 arrived and an 1 3/4" line was stretched through the front door. The fire was attacked and knocked down quickly. RFC and assisting companies overhauled and ventilated the house. Gladwyne Fire Company was requested for their air truck to re-fill SCBA bottles. The RFC crew remained on scene to assist the township fire marshal with his investigation. The occupant of the house was transported to the hospital. Crews returned to the firehouse around 6:30 AM and spent another hour cleaning equipment and getting the apparatus back in service. Thanks to Broomall, Bryn Mawr and Gladwyne Fire Companies for their invaluable assistance on a very cold morning.
