At the weekly drill, career Firefighter/Medic Bill Elder presented a class to RFC personnel on emergencies involving elevators.

During the 2+ hour drill, members were instructed on the different types of elevators and how to identify them, the safest practices to secure the elevators before attempting to extricate the occupants and the various techniques to open doors. Bill used a prop of an elevator door to show the inner workings of the door to the firefighters.

The drill concluded with everyone using the elevator keys to practice opening the doors.
