As crews were preparing for the WBA Tree Lighting event on Friday, December 2nd, RFC was dispatched to assist Broomall Fire Company on a truck fire at mile marker 9.3 southbound in Marple Township.
Deputy 15 (M. Maguire) arrived on location to a fully involved truck and assumed Blue Route Command.
Squad 15 with a crew of four arrived and deployed an 1 3/4" line and began attacking the fire.
Additional apparatus from Radnor, Manoa, Bon Air and Brookline Fire Companies were requested to assist with water supply.
During the extinguishment, the saddle tanks on the truck began to melt and a brief fuel fire added to the blaze.
The Delaware County Emergency Services Director and Haz-Mat rep responded to the scene.
The fire was extinguished and crews stood by until PSP had tow trucks in place and a traffic lane re-established.
RFC crews returned to the firehouse within two hours.
