A little before 9:30 AM on Friday, August 19th, Radnor Fire Company was dispatched to Ashwood Road in Villanova for a building fire investigation, an odor of smoke in the house.
Within minutes of dispatch, Delaware County Fireboard advised Chief 15 (J. Maguire) that they received a second call from the original caller reporting a fire on the second floor of the house. The call was upgraded to a building fire, adding apparatus from Bryn Mawr Fire Company.
Assistant Chief 15A (P. Leighton) arrived on location and reported a working fire.
Chief 15 arrived a minute later reporting fire showing from a window on the second floor.
Quint 15 arrived and deployed an 1 3/4" hose line to the second floor.
Additional apparatus was requested from Gladwyne Fire Company and Berwyn Fire Company.
Firefighters made an aggressive attack and the fire was declared under control at 9:53 AM.
The scene was turned over to the Radnor Township Fire Marshal and Radnor Police to investigate the cause of the fire.
Manoa Fire Company provided coverage for Radnor during the fire and handled a smoke investigation at a business on West Lancaster Avenue.
RFC and assisting companies cleared the scene at 11:35 AM and returned to their respective stations to clean equipment and place the apparatus back in service.
