On June 1st, at approximately 3:30 PM, Radnor Fire and EMS was dispatched to the area of Upper Gulph and Fletcher for a report of an aircraft crash. While en route, Chief 15 requested an engine and MICU from Berwyn Fire Company. Arriving fire company personnel found that a single engine plane had crashed into a tree on the St. Davids Golf Club property. The pilot and passenger had already been assisted out of the plane by bystanders. Both were transported to a local hospital by Radnor and Berwyn MICUs. Fire crews pulled hand lines and stood by due to a fuel leak from the plane. Crews also cordoned off the area to protect the scene and the debris field. Narberth EMS was requested for their re-hab unit. RFC and BFC remained on location until an FAA investigator arrived to assess the scene. Radnor Fire and EMS returned to the firehouse shortly before 8 PM where firefighters spent another hour placing the apparatus back in service. Thanks to Manoa Fire Company and Narberth/Haverford MICUs for standing by at RFC during the incident.
