Just after the completion of the Radnor Township Memorial Day Ceremony on South Wayne Avenue, Radnor Fire Company was dispatched for a full company assist to the Berwyn Fire Company for a commercial building fire on Lancaster Avenue in Berwyn. As Radnor apparatus was heading west on Lancaster Avenue, a header could be seen rising from the Volvo dealership in Berwyn. Arriving units encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof of the building. Quint 15 set up on the west side of the building and placed the ladder pipe in service. The fire started to bank down as additional firefighters arrived and placed two I 3/4" lines in service to the roof. Engine 15 laid a supply line from a hydrant 700' to the east of the fire. Crews members assisted with suppression and overhaul and were released from the scene after 2 PM. Thanks to the Manoa and Oakmont Fire Companies for standing by at RFC and covering the township until Radnor units could be placed back in service.
