WAYNE, PA - In anticipation of the pending storm, Radnor volunteers spent this past Monday evening prepping the water rescue equipment.

Firefighters went through their water rescue dry suits, rope throw bags and related equipment to make sure they were ready to deploy. The first storm related call came a little after 5:30 p.m. on September 1st with a water rescue on Gallagher Road. One victim was removed from a partially submerged vehicle.

Over the next few hours, RFC responded to seven more calls including four water rescue responses. In total, crews rescued five more victims from flooded roadways.

One of the calls on the 1st involved assisting Berwyn Fire Company with an extended swift water rescue near Valley Forge Park. Crews worked together for over three hours which resulted in a successful rescue.

At 7:24 a.m. on September 2nd, RFC was dispatched to assist the Bridgeport Fire Company in Montgomery County with evacuations. A crew of four responded with Tac 15 and the boat and worked with the Montgomery County Urban Search and Rescue Team. In service for over five hours, the crew assisted in rescuing over sixty victims from their homes throughout Bridgeport Borough.

At the height of the storm, thirty-two members were on station to respond to emergency incidents.
