WAYNE, PA - The Advanced Life Support (ALS) capabilities in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program of the Radnor Fire Company celebrates its 10th Anniversary this month!

This successful program began on August 1, 2011 and has continuously improved its patient care throughout its ten year history serving Radnor Township and the easternmost section of Tredyffrin Township.

Two Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) ambulances are staffedby a team of highly skilled Paramedics providing over 150 years of collective and broad experience. A third ambulance, a Quick Response Service (QRS) SUV, and an ATV are also available for medical and trauma emergencies or standbys at special events. Additionally, the fire operations provide response support during critical incidents.

The ALS program is constantly benchmarked for best practices, maintains compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Health standards, is managed in-house and ultimately supervised locally by a nationally recognized Emergency Department leader, physician and author.

Some of the many cutting-edge improvements of the paramedicine and ambulance equipment include the Lifepak 15 12-Lead Cardiac Monitor with added carbon monoxide detection, LUCAS CPR Device, AutoVent 3000 ventilator, EZIO Intraosseous Vascular Access System, McGrath Video Laryngoscope, EKO Core Stethoscope, Glucometry measurements, a Power Stretcher, MegaMover and Belt Driven Stair Chair for more efficient and rapid patient transport, and Portable Tablets for instant report writing and direct communication with hospital staff.

Congratulations to our outstanding ALS providers!

Brian J. Zimmerman, Nationally Registered Paramedic, Director of Emergency Medical Services Operations.
