WAYNE, PA - On Sunday, January 10th at 5:56 a.m., Radnor Fire Company and Broomall Fire Company were dispatched to mile marker 12.1 northbound on Interstate 476, for a vehicle fire, reported to be a gasoline tanker.

While enroute, additional engines were requested from Manoa and Berwyn fire companies. Radnor Chief 15 (Joseph Maguire) arrived on location with fire showing from the left rear of the tanker, impinging on the tank, extending up the side and as high as the top of the tank.

The driver of the tanker reported that the tank was full, containing 6,800 gallons of gasoline. Radnor Squad 15 arrived and deployed a hose line to attack the fire. Broomall arrived shortly afterward and supplied their tank water to Squad 15. The additional engines arrived and staged nearby.

The fire was quickly extinguished, however, firefighters continued to wet and cool down the tanker for the next 30 minutes. All first responders cleared the scene within the hour.
