Radnor Fire Company Assists With Kingswood Apartment Blaze Wednesday in Upper Merion

Wayne, PA -- At 10:38 p.m. Wednesday night, Radnor Fire Company was dispatched to assist at a structure fire at the Kingswood Apartments in Upper Merion Township.

Quint 15, Engine 15 and Squad 15 made the response and members were split up to perform multiple tasks including water supply, master stream operations and interior searches and fire attack. There were several civilians and first responders that were injured as reported by the media.

According to a press release Thursday from the Upper Merion Police Department, "through the efforts of all of the first responders all of the residents were evacuated from the building. As a result of this fire, fourteen (14) people, including five (5) police officers and one (1) paramedic were transported to several local hospitals for treatment. The police officers and the paramedic were treated for smoke inhalation and were subsequently released from the hospital. Of the eight (8) residents that were transported to the hospital, five (5) were released and three (3) remain hospitalized as of this morning.

All of the residents in this building were displaced because of the fire and are being assisted to find living arrangements by the Red Cross.

The Upper Merion Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating this fire. The origin and a cause of the fire have not been determined at this time."

Radnor crews were released from the scene just before 01:00 hours and returned to station to get cleaned up and return into service.
