RFC assists Montgomery County Units on Blue Route

WAYNE, PA - On December 27th at 10:45 a.m., the Radnor Fire Company was dispatched to the Blue Route, in the area of mile marker 14.6 southbound, to assist Montgomery County fire companies with a brush fire.

Upon arrival, a brush fire extended approximately 1/2 mile along the side of the highway both above and below mile marker 14.6, which is at the emergency crossover.

Radnor Fire Chief Joseph Maguire arrived and advised that RFC would handle from 14.6 south and further requested that Montgomery County units handle the area north of 14.6.

Squad 15 and Engine 15-1 arrived with ten firefighters and attacked the fire area south of 14.6, which extended for approximately 200 yards.
Squad 15 deployed an 1 3/4" line and Engine 15-1 deployed a booster line.

The fire was extinguished within an hour. Three firefighters remained on station to handle any other calls during this incident.
