Radnor Fire Company, Mutual Aid Companies Rescue One And Contain 2-Alarm Blaze Early Saturday In Wayne

Radnor, PA (July 6, 2019) - Radnor Fire Company and local mutual aid companies were dispatched at 12:23 a.m. Saturday to reports of smoke coming from a house with possible entrapment in the 300 block of Louella Avenue in Wayne.

Radnor and Berwyn Fire Companies were first on scene and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the first floor of a large, three-story Tudor. Quint 15, Engine 15-1 and Engine 2-3 went in service with lines to the first floor and basement.

Radnor and Berwyn crews performed a primary search of the second floor and rescued one resident who was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. A second alarm was struck at 12:37 a.m. bringing additional companies and crews from neighboring areas.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the basement and a first-floor study. The fire was put under control and fire fighters worked throughout the night performing overhaul, ventilation and ensuring the fire had not extended to other areas of the residence.

All crews were cleared from the scene around 4 a.m.
