Ladder 15 alongside Quint 03 from the Clifton Heights Fire Company spent the morning helping to honor longtime Swarthmore Fire Chief, the late Cris Hansen. As the impressive funeral procession caravanned down State Route 320 in Springfield, they were greeted by a 25'x15' American flag suspended between the sticks of the two trucks and members of both fire companies in full salute. Chief Hansen, 47, was a member of the Swarthmore Fire Company since he was a teenager and helped found the Delaware County Fire Chiefs Association. On behalf of all members of the Radnor Fire Company, sincere condolences are offered to the family of Chief Hansen as well as the Swarthmore Fire Company. MEMORIAL DAY FESTIVITES
Monday, May 26, 2008
-
As it has been played out for many years, the tradition of marching in the Radnor Township Memorial Day Parade was performed. The fire company's participation in this year's Memorial Day Parade was a success with a great turnout from the membership. This year's parade included an honor guard which led the fire company down the route to the center of Wayne. The parade was followed by a solemn ceremony remembering those from Radnor Township who have lost their lives in war. A picnic followed the ceremony held at the S. Devon park. A good time was had by all which included 5 runs for EMS and Fire that afternoon. One of those was an LZ at the Willows Park. Thanks to all who made this Memorial Day a memorable one.
