The Radnor Fire Company offers members of the community the ability to join as a Volunteer Firefighter. In this role, you will respond on fire apparatus as part of a crew responding to various types of incidents. This includes motor vehicle collisions, house fires, medical emergencies, haz-mat spills, and other calls varying in size and scope.
You will be integrated into a chain of command while taking orders from a fire officer during training and emergency and non-emergency responses. You will work with other personnel in a team like environment in situations that are hazardous and stress-filled.
You will be required to attend weekly drills and attend a regional fire academy to complete basic firefighter training. The initial course you will be required to complete is Firefighter I, which encompasses 180 hours of training that includes exterior and interior firefighting techniques. You will also be certified in CPR/AED and Hazardous Materials training. This training will begin to prepare you to operate safely as a Firefighter.
The Radnor Fire Company offers a junior firefighter membership for 16 and 17 year olds. These members will gain invaluable life experience and help participate in fire suppression & rescue incidents. School members are restricted in some activities and time as deemed by child labor laws set forth by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
