Radnor Fire Company was dispatched at 9:57 a.m., Thursday to reports of a front-end loader on fire at a construction site in the 100 block of King of Prussia Road in Radnor.

Chief 15 and Squad 15 were first on the scene to find the front-end loader fully engulfed in flames near the entrance to the construction site. Recognizing that the construction vehicle fire could require more than the 750 gallons on Squad 15, Chief 15 called for Engine 15 and Engine 15-1 to assist. The vehicle was unoccupied when it ignited.

Both career staff and volunteers from RFC pulled a line from Squad 15 and went to work on the fire while awaiting back-up from the additional engines. Due to the many hidden spaces on the front-end loader, as well as a mix of hydraulic, oil and gas fluids on-board, the fire took approximately 45 minutes to put out.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
