Radnor Fire Company Provides Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) For Friday Morning House Fire In Upper Merion

Radnor Fire Company was dispatched at 7:16 a.m. Friday morning to a working house fire in the 400 block of Coates Lane in Upper Merion. Police on scene reported heavy smoke showing from a one-story rancher and were working to evacuate everyone from the house.

Swedesburg Volunteer Fire Company was the first company on scene reporting significant smoke and fire throughout the dwelling. King of Prussia Fire Company, Swedeland Volunteer Fire Company, and Bridgeport Fire Department (Bridgeport #1) also responded. Rescue 15 was tapped for the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) assignment with a crew of six Radnor career and volunteer fire fighters. RIT teams consist of two or more firefighters dedicated solely to the search and rescue of other firefighters in distress

Crews brought the fire under control at approximately 8:00 a.m. and Rescue 15 was cleared from the scene by 9:45 a.m.

There were no reported injuries to residents or emergency personnel.
