Radnor Fire Company's fire trucks and ambulances are now equipped with pet oxygen masks thanks to a recent donation by the Chadds Ford - Thornbury Rotary Club. The pet oxygen kits were recently donated to Radnor and other Delaware County fire companies participating in a give-a-way event coordinated by the Delaware County Department of Emergency Services.

These specially designed animal masks can be used on conscious pets suffering from smoke inhalation and pets that need to be resuscitated after losing consciousness from exposure to toxic fumes. RFC's pet oxygen kits have three sizes: one for large dogs, one for smalls dogs, and one for cats.

Although the U.S. Fire Administration doesn’t keep an official statistic, industry sources estimate 40,000 to 150,000 pets die each year in fires. Most succumb to smoke inhalation. In most states, emergency responders lack the equipment to resuscitate and save pets.

Pet Oxygen Masks are coned shaped with a rubber seal at the base to allow a snug fit. This is important because it forces the mouth shut to deliver air directly into the nostrils. Offering a continuous and accurate direct flow of pure oxygen. This makes recovery quicker and more effective.
