Torrential rains and widespread flooding hit the Wayne area hard Monday morning as major highways and heavily traveled roads came to a standstill.

Radnor Fire Company was dispatched to 37 calls between the hours of 7 a.m. and noon. RFC reported handling 19 water rescues and physically rescuing 10 persons as a result of those calls.

The National Weather Service said a trained spotter reported 4.1 inches of rain fell in Wayne, Delaware County.

Radnor Fire Company reminds residents to please be alert! Do not drive through standing (or moving!) water. Do not drive around or remove barriers for road closures. Do not play in or around creeks, streams or any other body of water. Make sure sump pumps are operational. Clear gutters, downspouts and sewer drain inlets around your properties and please be safe.
