Fire Breaks Out at White Dog Cafe in Wayne, Radnor Fire Company and Local Companies Respond

Radnor Fire Company was dispatched to the White Dog Cafe on West Lancaster Avenue in Wayne, Monday afternoon shortly after 1:O0 p.m. as fire broke out in the restaurant's primary kitchen ventilation system. Engine 15 and Quint 15 arrived on scene at 1:15 p.m. to find smoke coming from the roof and the kitchen.

All guests and employees from White Dog and surrounding businesses were evacuated. There were no reports of injuries.

Once a working fire call was dispatched, multiple mutual aid companies from surrounding areas arrived on scene. Berwyn, Bryn Mawr, Broomall, Gladwyne, Newtown Square, Narberth, Manoa, and Springfield fire companies were all on scene providing support. Radnor and Berwyn crews worked both in the kitchen and on the roof to contain the fire to the kitchen's hood and ventilation system. Radnor, Berwyn and Bryn Mawr all had ladder mains extended to the roof.

Traffic was temporarily closed on Lancaster Avenue between North Wayne and Bloomingdale Avenues. All crews were made available by 3:00 p.m. Radnor Fire Company would like to thank Swedeland and Oakmont fire companies and Narberth ambulance for their coverage during the incident.
