Engine 15-3

Engine 15-3 is a 1996 E-One Cyclone 1500 gallon-per-minute single stage pumper with a 500-gallon booster tank. It carries 1200 feet of five inch supply line, 600 feet of 2 ˝” hose, and 800 feet of 1 ľ inch attack line. It has five preconnected attack lines, one at the front of the truck, two mid-truck and two at the rear to provide preconnected lines to any point regardless of how the truck is positioned.

It has a 7500-watt on-board generator, two 1500-watt floodlights which can immediately illuminate a fire scene in order that the firefighters work is safely conducted at night.

The three of the four ladders carried on this truck are on a ladder rack, which lowers to a position where the firefighters can easily remove the ladders for service.

It also carries a positive pressure fan, which the firefighters can utilize to remove smoke conditions from a building in a short amount of time.

This pumper is also designed to be a stand-alone first-due attack pumper and rotates monthly with Engine 15-1 in that capacity.

It carries four firefighters, an officer and an engineer/driver in a climate-controlled fully enclosed cab. Each firefighter has his or her own self-contained breathing apparatus (all of Radnor’s trucks are designed as such).

Chief's Vehicles

Engine 15-1

Engine 15-1 is a 1999 E-One 2000 GPM single stage pumper with a 500 gallon booster tank. The truck carries 1500 feet of 5" supply line, 600 feet of 2 1/2" hose, and 800 feet of 1 3/4" attack line. It has five pre-connected attack lines, one located on the front bumper, two mid-truck, and two at the rear to provide pre-connected lines to any point regardless of how the truck is positioned. The pumper has a 75—Kw. generator on-board, two 1500-watt floodlights, which can immediately illuminate a fire scene in order that the firefighters work is safely conducted at night.
It also carries an electric positive pressure fan, which the firefighters can utilize to remove smoke conditions from a building in a short amount of time. This pumper is also designed to be a stand-alone first-due attack pumper and rotates with Engine 15-3 in that capacity. Engine 15-1 carries four fighters, one officer and an engineer/driver in a climate controlled fully enclosed cab; and as with all Radnor Fire Company’s apparatus, each firefighter has his or her own self-contained breathing apparatus.

Ladder-15

Ladder 15 is a 1994 E-One 100-foot aerial ladder truck. Its main ladder can extend 100 feet above the top of the truck. Because of the unusual residential areas of our fire district (long winding driveways) this truck carries over 250 feet of ground ladders of various lengths from 10 to 50 feet. These ladders provide the firefighters access to second and third stories, as well as, the roofs of these dwellings and commercial buildings. The ladder truck also has an on-board PTO driven 20,000-watt generator and four 1500-watt floodlights which provide more than enough lights for a nighttime fire scene.

Also carried are tools and equipment to remove a fire or accident victim from a high location above ground and is used in conjunction with out rescue truck for all technical rescue calls. As with all Radnor Fire Company apparatus, Ladder 15 has a headset for all personnel riding on the apparatus, which enables every member of the crew to communicate with one another. These headsets also allow the officer to issue orders, communicate with the 911 center and with other apparatus responding to the call.

Ambulance 15-7 & 15-7A

Radnor Ambulance operates two comparably equipped Ford/Horton Type III Ambulances. Both are powered by Ford PowerStroke ® Diesel engines for maximum power and extended duty cycles. In addition to required medical equipment, both vehicles are capable of radio communications with Chester, Delaware, & Montgomery counties for maximum interoperatability, and by cellular phone for contacting local hospital emergency departments. Self-contained breathing apparatus along with basic firefighting tools allow crewmembers to mitigate hazardous situations quickly.

Engine 15-2

Engine 15-2 is a 2003 Seagrave rescue pumper, manufactured in Clintonville, Wisconsin. It has a 6 firefighter climate-controlled cab, a Cummins ISM 450 HP diesel engine, 2000 GPM Hale Q-Max pump, and a 750 gallon booster tank. As do our other pumpers, it has a Top Mount Pump panel to keep the engineer off the roadway, 5 preconnected 1 3/4" lines, two from rear, 2 speed lays in the middle of the truck and one ” trash line” in the front bumper.

It also has a 7.5 KW Onan diesel generator with three preconnected flood lights, an Akron Apollo Deck Gun, 1200 ft 5" hose, 600 ft 2/12" hose, 700 ft 1/34" hose, and 200 feet of 3/4" booster line.

The truck has two Hurst tools (Jaws of Life), powered by a Hurst Simo Pump in its rear compartment. It also carries high-rise and stabilization jacks.

This apparatus was designed to provide immediate stabilization, immediate fire control and begin the extrication process to free victims involved in any type of accident, if necessary. It also was designed to function as a water supply unit at fire incidents.

This truck was designed to be first out on all motor vehicle rescue calls. Our response district includes a large portion of I-476 (Blue Route) from the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) to West Chester Pike (Route 3). We share the highway with Montgomery County Station 39 (George Clay of West Conshohocken) north of Route 30 and Delaware County Station 53 (Broomall) south of Route 30.

Rescue 15

Rescue 15 is a 2004 Seagrave/Rescue 1, medium cab 20 ft non-walk-in heavy-duty rescue. It was purchased by the Township for $523,000. It was delivered in January of 2005 and was placed in service February 14th.

It has a Cummins 400 HP ISL diesel engine coupled with an Allison EVS 3000 automatic transmission.

The full tilt climate-controlled cab will seat 6 firefighters (4 with SCBA), an officer and an Engineer/Driver.

All of the compartments have roll up doors and the rear stairs to the fully compartmented upper deck lifts for storage underneath.

The 35 KW PTO generator powers six 900-watt sidelights, two tripod portable lights and a Will Burt Nite Scan remote controlled tower, which has 6 - 900 watt quartz-halogen lights. There is also a 500-watt brow light on the front of the cab, which can operate either off the truck’s electrical system or the PTO generator.

The unit has a total of six Hurst extrication tools, three Hurst Simo units powering two tools each as well as a gasoline powered Simo pump. The truck carries 2 Hurst Maverick combo tools, 2 Xtractor, 2 O-Cutters and a Hurst Model 32 Jaws of Life.

There is an 8000 lb portable winch with four “receivers” located on all sides of the truck.

In order to clean up spills on the highway, the truck has an absorbent compartment which can fill containers on the ground for use on the scene.

The unit also has retractable awnings running the full length of the box for use in inclement and hot weather for a rehab location. There is also a 9 cu ft refrigerator to store cold drinks used during the truck rehab function.

The truck is 2nd out on all vehicle rescues following 15-2 and is also used for Rapid Intervention Team responses.
